29-30 – Motivational
Interviewing in Practice – Level 2 – Couns205: This course will
provide you with a deeper level of understanding of the relational and technical
components of motivational interviewing practices, and its relation to other
change models. The course is for experienced practitioners who expect to
regularly participate in sessions with clients ranging from 30 to 60 minutes.
Learners will participate in activities and exercises, within the style of
Motivational Interviewing, to strengthen skills related to engagement
(alliance), resistance, ambivalence, as well as recognizing and responding to

Graduate
Certificate in Complex Trauma and Child Sexual Abuse Intervention:
We are now accepting applications for September 2015. This 30-day (15 credit)
program takes an integrative approach to the assessment and treatment of complex
trauma and child sexual abuse, drawing on the most current clinical and
evidence-based material on effective complex trauma intervention, as well as the
most recent research on attachment, neurobiology, memory and dissociation.
Substance Use Certificate: We are now accepting applications
for September 2015. This 20-day (10 credit) program is grounded in a
harm-reduction approach. Sessions are led by experienced professionals with a
focus on understanding substance use within a bio-psycho-social-spiritual
framework; the application of current research and knowledge about
interventions; and the exploration of social justice issues such as race, class,
gender, poverty, and violence.
